Files: image converters, compression, PDF and QR codes online

Everything you do to a file rather than to its content: format, size, weight, PDF pages and codes. Converters run right in the browser — free and without uploading the file.

The main difference

The converters run in your tab, not on our server

Changing an image format, cropping, compressing and resizing all happen right in the browser: the file opens on your device, is re-encoded there and saved there. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, so the question “what happens to my document” never arises — there is nothing to answer. These tools spend no credits and work without signing in: open the page, drop the file, take the result. For the remaining tools in the section the terms are written on their own pages above the form, and written just as plainly.

Nothing leaves the device

A passport, a contract, a medical record or a family photo stay on the device. That is a property of the tool itself, not a promise in a policy.

No watermarks

The result is an ordinary file that opens everywhere. No signature, no label, no forced logo on top of the picture.

No hidden redrawing

Width and height are preserved and the content of the frame does not change: only the encoding does. No “enhancements” you did not ask for.

What you want to do

Format, weight and content are three different jobs

This is where the tools here get confused: someone looks for “compress a photo” when what they need is a different format, or the other way round. The difference is simple, and the section is laid out along it.

Format — so the file opens at all

Half the upload forms reject an iPhone HEIC, WEBP will not go into an old document, and a transparent PNG turned into a JPG gets a white background instead of transparency. Changing the format spoils nothing: the frame stays the same, the container changes, and width and height are preserved to the pixel.

Weight and size — to get past a limit

Compression reduces weight and touches quality, resizing reduces the number of pixels, cropping removes what sits at the edges. Three different tools, and confusing them is costly: a twelve-megapixel shot squeezed to the limit for a two-megabyte cap looks noticeably worse than the same shot carefully scaled to the width you need. The usual order is: crop first, then resize, and only then compress.

Pages and codes — working with a document

Merge, split, rotate, number, remove pages, add a watermark, clear metadata, turn into text or a spreadsheet. Separately — codes: a link, Wi-Fi, a business card and retail barcodes.

How this section works

The section holds 12 services across 1 areas. Each is its own page with a form, a price and examples.

Most people start with “PDF”

It is the largest area here — 12 services.

You will need your photo

Every service here works from your file. What the shot needs — sharpness, angle, what must be visible — is written on each service page, above the form.

You can start without credits

The catalog marks the services in this section as free. The exact price of a run, including the selected tier, is always on the button before you press it.

Your results stay with you

Every run is saved to your account history: you can return to it, repeat it with other settings or continue in a neighbouring service.

What to look at

Three things worth checking in any online converter

The list is short and not only about us: these three points show what happens to a file before you hand it over.

Where the file goes

Browser-side and server-side processing look exactly the same to a person: a spinner turns and then a download button appears. They differ completely. If it is not stated plainly and in plain sight, assume the file left and now lives somewhere else.

What stays in the metadata

A photo carries a date, a camera model and often a geotag — that is, the address it was taken from. A PDF keeps an author name, the software title and the time of the last edit. Neither is visible to the eye and both almost always travel with the file; that is exactly why a separate metadata cleaner exists.

Whether the file grew

Formats compress differently: PNG is usually heavier than JPG and WEBP, and converting “to the better format” sometimes doubles the weight instead of saving anything. Judge the final number of megabytes rather than the format's name, and check it right after converting.

PDF is half the section, and people ask it for almost the same things

A document arrives in the wrong shape for sending: more pages than needed, order scrambled by the scanner, some frames sideways, and the properties still carrying an author name and the software used. The tools here are small and dull, but they are what closes the evening before a contract or an application pack goes out.

Merge and split

Several files into one document and back: pull out the pages you need, delete the extras, reorder them. Images also assemble into a PDF — that is how a pack of scans goes out as one attachment instead of twelve photos that the other side will open one by one and half of which will go missing.

Rotate and number

A scanner puts pages down however it likes, while the person receiving them reads in order. Rotating and numbering takes two minutes and removes half the questions of whoever sorts it out.

Mark and clean

A watermark on the copy that leaves your hands, and a metadata clean-up on the one where it does not belong: PDF properties usually keep the author, the software and the edit time.

Turn into text and a spreadsheet

PDF into Word or Excel and back, and a document into plain text when the content matters rather than the layout: a quote, a word search, a paste into an email.

The five minutes usually spent hunting for a program

Almost every job here appears unplanned and at an awkward moment: a form rejects a phone photo, a contract has to go as one file, the scanned pack has pages upside down, a stand at a fair needs a code. The usual answer is installing yet another program or registering on a site that asks for your email and keeps writing for another six months. This section is built so the job closes in the same tab where it appeared and ends with a downloaded file rather than an installed program.

✓ An iPhone photo into a format any form accepts
✓ A pack of scans into one document with the right page order

✓ A contract without an author name or software traces in its properties

✓ A link, Wi-Fi or business card as a code you can print right away

So you do not look in the wrong place

How Files differs from Photo

Here something is done to the file: format, weight, size, pages, codes. The content of the frame does not change by a single pixel — that is the whole point of the section. If the image itself needs changing: better quality, an old photo restored, a background or an object removed, edges extended — that is the neighbouring Photo section. Those tools work differently, cost credits and do not run in the browser, and the two jobs should not be confused: a file that simply needs a different container has no business being sent for redrawing.

How to choose the right service

Quick answers

Image converters, cropping, compression and resizing run locally in the browser; for others the terms are on each service page.
Format converters and image processing are free and use no credits; other tools show their price on their pages.
HEIC, JPG, PNG and WEBP in both directions, plus assembling images into a PDF.
QR for a link, Wi-Fi and a vCard business card, plus EAN-13 and Code 128 barcodes.
